The Films and Stage Plays Act empowers KFCB to regulate film and broadcast content in Kenya

Are you a filmmaker, film agent, distributor, or exhibitor?
Are you aware of the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the laws of Kenya?
Cap 222 empowers the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) to:
1.    Register and license film agents, local and international filmmakers, distributors, and exhibitors.
2.    Regulate the creation, broadcasting, distribution, exhibition, and possession of film and broadcast content in Kenya.
3.    Prescribe and develop film and broadcast content regulation guidelines in Kenya.
Regulation of film and broadcast content is meant to ensure that audio-visual content intended for public exhibition conforms to Kenya’s culture, moral values, and National aspirations and that minors and vulnerable adults are protected from exposure to inappropriate content.
The KFCB is a State Corporation, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports.
