KFCB Redefines the Role of Film Agents in a Bid to Spur the Film Industry Growth

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) is committed to ensuring a facilitative regulatory environment to spur the growth of the film sector through collaboration with industry stakeholders.
The KFCB recognizes the vital contribution of film agents to the film industry value chain and the country's economy.
In a bid to ensure an enabling and conducive environment for the film sector to thrive, the KFCB recently redefined the role of film agents in Kenya to facilitate foreign filmmakers and TV producers to film in Kenya.
The redefinition of the role of film agents has made it easier for local aspiring filmmakers to obtain licences directly from the Board instead of going through a film agent as the case was before.
The KFCB has also proposed a review of various regulatory frameworks that once ratified will promote the ease of doing business for the film industry stakeholders in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). The process is at the tail end.
