Creatives throng KFCB's Nairobi Film Centre for the 4th Edition of 'Filmmakers Hangout'

The Nairobi Film Centre (NFC), formerly, Nairobi Cinema, was a bee-hive of activities as film students, filmmakers, film enthusiasts and film industry stakeholders converged for the 4th Edition of Filmmakers' Hangout, held on Saturday, 26th April 2025.
The networking event, organized by the Guzman Pictures and Teamshirika, in partnership with Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), among other partners provided a platform for filmmakers to connect, learn, and celebrate the vibrant Kenyan cinema.
The fabulous event, also saw the screening of short films produced by renown content creators, among them; 'My Name is Omosh' by Crazy Kennar, 'Mwanga' by Njuguna Ng’ang’a and 'Death Valley' by Kennedy Kyalo. There were also stage and music performances by various local artists.
While speaking at the event, Nelly Muluka, Ag. Chief Manager, Corporate Services, on behalf of the @InfoKfcb said the Board is committed to ensuring a facilitative regulatory environment to spur the growth of the film industry in Kenya in line with the Creative and Digital Economy Pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
She indicated that the Government through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, where KFCB is domiciled is championing key reforms and initiatives aimed at transforming the Creative Economy with the key focus of putting money in the pockets of creatives.
Muluka urged local creatives to leverage on the initiatives the Government is providing to showcase and monetize their creativity.
As part of ensuring a facilitative film regulatory environment, she revealed that KFCB has proposed the review of various regulatory frameworks that once ratified will make obtaining licenses easier for filmmakers and promote the ‘ease-of -doing business for the industry stakeholders.
She also encouraged the creatives to make use of the NFC as a platform to showcase their creativity, noting that the facility is part of the KFCB's Sinema Mashinani Initiative.
The 850-seater facility, located along the Aga-Khan Walk within the Nairobi CBD, is ideal for events such as; film screenings, stage plays, music concerts, comedy shows, podcasts, poetry, modeling pageantry, conferences, among others.
