Curtains Fall on The 95th Edition of The Kenya Music Cultural Festival

The Kenya Film Classification Board participated in the 95th Edition of the Kenya Music and Cultural Festival (KMCF), Awards Gala, held at the Kitui Multi-Purpose Training Institute on 7th December 2022.

The annual event is a culmination of community festivals on the National stage and presents a diversity of cultural expressions in dance, music, film poetry, drama and cultural exhibition, thus providing solutions to challenges facing society through artistic expression.

The KMCF aligns with KFCB's mandate in the area of promoting Kenya's culture, values and national aspirations and provides a platform for participants to exhibit their talents and cultural expressions.

Dr. Augustine Kanani Wambua, Deputy Governor, County Government of Kitui, presided over the Awards Gala in the company of other officials.

Themed: 'Embracing Cultural Diversity and Connections in the 21st Century and Beyond', this year's festival brought together participants from universities, technical institutions, County Governments and community groups who showcased their diverse cultural items.

The Board recognizes Creative Arts as a vehicle for social change and its key role in promoting and safeguarding Kenya's culture, values and national aspirations and its key role in socio-economic transformation.

We also recognize that music and film are powerful tools that can be used to tell African stories and promote our diversity.

The Board continues to engage with stakeholders such as KMCF on programs aimed at identifying and nurturing talents among the youth for job opportunities and wealth creation as well as inculcating moral values in line with the law.

The KMCF, is an initiative of the State Department for Culture under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage.
