Educational Visit by the Mombasa Aviation Institute - Media and Communication Students

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), hosted students from the Mombasa Aviation Institute, Department of Mass Communication, on Thursday 9th November 2023.

The students paid the Board an academic visit with the aim of acquainting themselves with KFCB’s regulatory mandate and other programs.

The students were taken through the Board's regulatory mandate (Film Registration, Classification, Licensing, and Compliance), as stipulated in the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap, 222 of the Laws of Kenya, as well as programs and campaigns spearheaded by the Board.

The Board’s Ag. Chief Manager, Corporate Services, Mr. Paskal Opiyo, lauded the students for their desire to learn about the role of KFCB.

He said that the Creative Economy offers enormous career opportunities and encouraged the students to take them up. He also urged the students to become KFCB’s agents in championing clean content consumption among the youths.

The Board’s Corporate Communications Manager, Ms. Nelly Muluka, advised the students to leverage technology in pursuit of their careers, emphasizing that technology is the future of work. She also urged them to use the internet responsibly.

Ms. Muluka said that the Government is spearheading key programs aimed at empowering young people to pursue careers in the Film and Media industry.
Institutions of learning are among the Board’s key stakeholders, especially in the Media Literacy Program and Public Sensitization dubbed: #YouAreWhatYouConsume, which seeks to create awareness among our state on the Board’s mandate and programs in line with our consumer advisory role.
