Fans Celebrate as KFCB Screens Kenya vs Zambia CHAN 2024 Match

Hundreds of enthusiastic football fans gathered at the Safari Rally Grounds in Kasarani on Sunday, 17th August 2025, to watch the highly anticipated CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 qualifier between Kenya and Zambia.
The screening, facilitated by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) in collaboration with the Chan 2024 Local Organising Committee, saw Kenya clinch a thrilling 1-0 victory over Zambia’s Chipolopolo, securing a place in the quarter-finals.
The live screening was facilitated through KFCB’s state-of-the-art Cine-Mobile truck, a key component of the Board’s Sinema Mashinani Initiative.
The public screening was part of broader fan engagement efforts spearheaded by the CHAN 2024 Local Organising Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, under which KFCB operates.
The mobile cinema truck, featuring a 63-square-metre LED screen with a hydraulic lift system, high-capacity sound, and an inbuilt generator, can serve up to 800 people, making it ideal for large-scale public screenings.
Beyond the match, the screening provided a platform for KFCB to raise awareness about its mandate, including content classification, consumer advisory, and support for local creatives.
Aligned with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the Sinema Mashinani initiative seeks to spur job creation, support local talent, and promote clean content, ultimately driving growth and wealth creation in Kenya’s creative sector.
KFCB remains committed to spurring the growth of the local film industry for job opportunities, wealth creation and sustainable development through strategic partnerships and impactful programs.
