Government Reaffirms Commitment to Advancing the Orange Economy
The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Ag. CEO, Ms. Nelly Muluka, on 16th April 2026, joined the Principal Secretary, State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, Mr. Fikirini Jacobs, alongside industry leaders, partners, and stakeholders at the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) Graduation Ceremony held in Nairobi.
The Chief Guest, Cabinet Secretary H.E. Salim Mvurya, EGH, represented by PS Fikirini Jacobs, reaffirmed the Government’s strong commitment to empowering youth and strengthening the growth of the creative economy.
The CS further underscored the pivotal role of the film sector in driving Kenya’s economic growth and advancing sustainable development.

“Through the Creative Economy Bill 2026, the new Music & Audiovisual Tariffs 2026–2028, among other key interventions, the Government is building a more structured, fair, and investable industry that ensures creatives earn and thrive,” the CS said.
Other speakers at the Graduation Ceremony called for enhanced industry collaboration to drive the creative economy forward, emphasizing its potential to empower youth, create employment opportunities, and foster wealth creation.

KFCB remains committed to working with all stakeholders and agencies whose mandates impact the film industry, as well as supporting initiatives aimed at empowering creatives in line with Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the Government’s vision of transforming Kenya into a first-world nation.

Also in attendance were key industry stakeholders, including the MTF East Africa Academy Director, Victoria Goro, OGW; the Communications Authority of Kenya represented by Peter Ikumilu; and Timothy Owase, CEO of the Kenya Film Commission, among other stakeholders.
