Boost for Creatives as Hiventy Group Launches Offices in Nairobi
The Kenya Film Classification Board’s Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Christopher Wambua, was among dignitaries who graced the official launch of Hiventy Africa, a subsidiary of the internationally recognized Hiventy Group, held at the Park Place hotel, Magadi Road on 7th October, 2021.
Hiventy Group specializes in providing technical solutions for audiovisual and cinematographic broadcasting across the world. It also offers post-production, content localization as well as content distribution and exhibition on various platforms such as Netflix.
In his remarks, Mr. Wambua stated that the launch of Hiventy Africa in Nairobi will create new job opportunities in the creative sector and provide exposure to local content creators in harnessing the myriad opportunities that the digital economy presents.
“Hiventy’s choice of Nairobi as its regional headquarters is a clear testament that Kenya is indeed one of the leading ICT and film hub in the region. We call upon content creators to work closely with us in ensuring that content meant for broadcast, distribution and exhibition in Kenya is not only clean but conforms to all legal and regulatory requirements,” the Ag. CEO remarked.
Mr. Wambua affirmed that the Board remains open and looks forward to working closely with Hiventy Group in facilitating the uptake of Kenyan content in the emergent digital and Over the Top services platforms, adding that it is important in ensuring that we share our stories with the rest of the world.
He appealed to Hiventy Group and other like-minded public and private sector stakeholders to support the Board’s clarion call for creation of content that promotes our Kenyan culture, moral values and national aspirations.
Also present at the launch were, Mr. Timothy Owase, Kenya Film Commission (KFC) CEO, Hiventy Group International Director, Ms. Juliette Vivier, Hiventy Group Africa Director, Ms. Caroline Mbidyo, Ms. June Chepkemei, Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager, Konza Technopolis Development Authority, local filmmakers and creatives.
