Exhibition During the Official Launch of National Youth Week 2025

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) participated in and exhibited during the official launch of this year’s National Youth Week (NYW), held on 6th August 2025, at Pwani University.
During the event, the Board had the honour of hosting the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Professor Kithure Kindiki, at its exhibition booth.
Themed "Local Youth Actions for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Beyond," this year's NYW and International Youth Week (IYW) seek to highlight the unique role of youth in translating global ambitions into community-driven realities.
The ongoing #NYW2025 build-up activities will culminate in the celebration of International Youth Day (IYD) 2025 on 12th August 2025 in Kakamega County.
Speaking during the NYW launch, KFCB’s Ag. Chief Executive Officer, CPA Paskal Opiyo, reiterated the Board’s commitment to creating a facilitative regulatory environment to spur the growth of the film sector, generate job opportunities for the youth, and foster wealth creation in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
To further drive the growth of the film sector and empower creatives, the Ag. CEO revealed that the Board will soon launch a cinema-mobile truck, a key project under the Sinema Mashinani initiative, with a focus on providing a platform for local creatives to showcase and monetize their craft.
Additionally, through regulatory reforms, the Board has proposed the Films and Stage Plays Regulations and Guidelines, which, once adopted and ratified, will encourage further investment in the film sector and provide opportunities for local filmmakers to monetize their talent.
Moreover, through initiatives like the Creatives in Arts and Film Literacy (CAFIL) Programme, the KFCB aims to nurture a vibrant creative industry that plays a crucial role in driving cultural, economic, and sustainable development.
#NYW2025 brought together Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs) under the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, which showcased their respective mandates and the interventions they are implementing to support youth empowerment and sustainable development.
