Youths Urged to Take Advantage of Government Projects

The Kenya Film Classification Board Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, has urged the youths to take advantage of the programs that the Government is rolling-out for socoio-econmic empowerment.

Speaking when the Board's Sinema Mashinani Technical team paid a courtesy call to the Mombasa County Commissioner, Mr. Gilbert Kitiyo, on 7th July 2021, Dr. Mutua said the Board is keen to support ventures that are geared towards  empowering the youths for job opportunities and wealth creation in line with the Manufacturing Pillar of the Presidential Big Four Agenda.

The CEO said the Board has forged partnership with the County Governments and other like-minded institutions on projects that will create job opportunities under the Sinema Mashinani initiative.

Dr. Mutua noted that agencies in the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs are working together on initiatives meant to create job opportunities for the youths.

The Sinema Mashinani technical team later visited the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Studio Mashinani Centre in Mombasa.

The site visit followed the invitation and request by the State broadcaster for the Board to partner in diverse programmes for their Studio Mashinani Centre that seeks to establish a Film and Media Hub in efforts to provide effective training and resource centre for the youth as well as generate revenue.

The Studio Mashinani initiative rhymes with the Board’s Sinema Mashinani.

On his part, the Mombasa County Commissioner, Mr. Gilbert Kitiyo said that his office shall partner with the Board and KBC in the Sinema and Studio Mashinani initiatives.
