KFCB Hosts Tunga Media Afrika for Discussions on Self-Classification and Potential Collaboration
The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), led by the Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Nelly Muluka, on Monday 4 th May 2026, hosted representatives from Tunga Afrika, led by its Founder and Director, Ms. Cindy Makandi, for discussions on potential collaboration and potential onboarding on KFCB’s self-classification model.
The self-classification model allows broadcasters, Video-on-Demand (VOD), and Over- The-Top (OTT) platforms to classify audio-visual content exhibited or streamed on their platforms, with KFCB providing training, guidance, and compliance monitoring.

The meeting also explored partnership opportunities between KFCB and Tunga Afrika, particularly in consumer awareness initiatives targeting parents, caregivers, guardians, and general consumers of audio-visual content. These efforts aim to protect children and other vulnerable groups from exposure to inappropriate content.
During the meeting, Ms. Muluka reiterated KFCB’s commitment to working closely with Tunga Afrika, broadcasters, VOD, OTT platforms and all other stakeholders in the film and television sector to promote responsible broadcasting practices and strengthen consumer protection mechanisms in line with the Board’s regulatory mandate.

On her part, Ms. Makandi commended Kenya Film Classification Board for its continued efforts in promoting responsible film consumption and supporting the growth of Kenya’s film industry.
KFCB is a State agency under the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, mandated by the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap. 222 to regulate film and broadcast content in Kenya. Its primary objective is to protect children and vulnerable audiences from exposure to inappropriate audio-visual content.
