The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Management, led by the Ag. Chief Manager, Corporate Services  and Administration, Ms. Nelly Muluka, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, hosted Ms. Pauline Njau, the Director and Head of School, Slum TV Africa, a grassroots media collective based in Mathare, Nairobi, which trains young people from the neighbourhood in digital media production under the slogan “Films made by Mathare, in Mathare, for Mathare.”

They agreed on partnership in the areas of capacity building for the students participating in this year's Kamera School bootcamp, hosting of the 2025 graduation, among other areas of future collaboration.

Ms. Muluka applauded the initiative by Slum TV, noting that it resonates with the Board’s resolve to promote young talents, advance creativity, and support job creation, wealth generation, and industry growth in line with the Fifth Pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the Talanta Hela Initiative.

On her part, Ms. Njau reiterated that since 2007, Slum TV has grown to work with young adults (18–30) in its Kamera School Bootcamp and urban refugee women in their Paza Sauti Project to document life in the broader Eastlands region. The initiative has so far trained over 1,000 individuals and produced more than 500 short films.

Kenya Film Classification Board is a State Agency in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, mandated by the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya, to regulate the creation, broadcasting, possession, distribution and exhibition of film and broadcast content in the country.
