Protect Children from Inappropriate Content During the Extended School Holidays
Following the postponement of the re-opening of schools by one week, to 6th May 2024, the Kenya Film Classification Board, advises parents and guardians to keenly monitor the audio-visual content that children are watching on TV, online, or other broadcast channels and guide them appropriately.
Research has shown that film and media content influence the behaviour and the thinking of consumers, especially children, who are more impressionable.
In line with our consumer advisory role, the KFCB, a State Corporation, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, mandated to regulate film and broadcast content in Kenya, remains committed to working with stakeholders on initiatives geared towards protecting minors from exposure to inappropriate audio-visual content.
Further, the Board is keen on creating a facilitative regulatory environment to spur the growth of the film industry in line with the Fifth Pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the Talanta Hela Initiative.
