Public Sensitization on Board’s Mandate during the Embu Youth Day

Kenya Film Classification Board's (KFCB) Eastern Region Officers, led by the Regional Manager, Jennifer Naserian, conducted public sensitization on the Board's regulatory mandate during the Embu Youth Day, held on 4th May, 2023.

The sensitization covered the Board's mandate, programs and campaigns, especially on issuance of filming registration, distribution and exhibition licences respectively. They also shared about the existing opportunities for the youth in the film industry.

The team also highlighted on the regulatory interventions that the Board is undertaking to create a facilitative environment for the film sector to thrive.

Public sensitization is part of the Board's consumer advisory function as stipulated in the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.

The event, which was presided over by Hon. Cecile Mbarire, the Governor, County Government of Embu, brought together more than 1,500 youths and other participants.

The Board continues to partner in initiatives geared towards facilitating and spurring growth of the film industry as well as those aimed at enhancing compliance to the requirements that govern the film industry.
