Role of Film Agents in Facilitating Foreign Film Crews

Role of Film Agents in Facilitating Foreign Film Crews

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) is mandated under the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222, Laws of Kenya, to regulate filming activities for both local and foreign filmmakers.
To facilitate foreign film and television productions in Kenya, the Board certifies film agents who provide essential logistical support to international crews planning to shoot in the country.
In a move aimed at expanding opportunities within the local film industry, KFCB redefined the role of film agents to focus exclusively on facilitating foreign productions.
This reform has streamlined processes for international filmmakers while enabling local filmmakers to apply for filming licences directly from the Board, eliminating the need to go through agents and avoiding additional facilitation fees.
