Courtesy Call on the Broadcasting and Telecommunications PS

The Kenya Film Classification Board Management, led by the Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Christopher Wambua, paid a courtesy call on the Broadcasting and Telecommunications PS, Ms. Esther Koimett, CBS, on 7th March, 2022 and briefed her on the COVID-19 and Digital Employability III that the UKaid is rolling out in partnership with the African Centre for Women in ICT (ACWICT) and the Board.
The programme targets to train vulnerable groups, especially women and youths to leverage on the digital space to create and monetize their creative works with the aim of enhancing their livelihoods.
It also seeks to empower parents and caregivers with digital skills to ensure responsible internet consumption among children. This is in line with the Board’s regulatory mandate aimed at protecting children from exposure to inappropriate content.
They also discussed challenges paused by the digital era and possible solutions in establishing safer internet spaces, especially for children through online safety programmes.
During the meeting, the UK High Commission officials also briefed the PS on other programmes that UKaid is funding in other agencies under the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs under the UK government’s Digital Access Programme.
