KFCB Engages Young Creatives at Mr. & Miss. Samba Pageant and WHOZNEXT Awards

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), Mombasa Regional Office team, led by Ms. Yvonne Musyoki, on Saturday, 20th December 2025, participated in the Mr. & Miss. Samba Youth Empowerment Pageant and the WHOZNEXT Awards, held at Aveon Schools, Kinondo, Kwale County.
The colourful event was graced by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy, Mr. Fikirini Jacobs, who represented the Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Salim Mvurya, E.G.H.
The event brought together talented young creatives from across Kwale County, providing a vibrant platform for recognition, exposure, and the celebration of excellence in pageantry, fashion, music, dance, and digital content creation.

Speaking on behalf of the CS, the PS reaffirmed the Government’s strong commitment to nurturing young creatives through targeted programmes, partnerships, and enabling policies.
“This commitment is reflected in the ongoing development of the Creative Economy Bill, 2025, which aims to strengthen the sector, provide a clear legal framework, and unlock sustainable opportunities for our youth,” said PS Fikirini.

During the event, the KFCB team engaged participants by sensitising them on the Board’s mandate as provided under the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap. 222 of the Laws of Kenya, as well as other Board programmes and campaigns.

4The team also highlighted KFCB’s key interventions aimed at creating a facilitative regulatory environment to spur the growth of the film industry, promote job creation, and enhance wealth generation in line with the Government’s vision of transforming Kenya into a first-world nation.
