Mr. Christopher Wambua is the Acting CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) - the regulatory agency for the Film and Broadcast Content. He was appointed to the position in August 2021.
Prior to his appointment, he was the Director in charge of Consumer and Public Affairs at the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). In this role, he was responsible for overseeing corporate communications, consumer protection, stakeholder management, and international relations functions at the ICT sector regulator. He had earlier worked at the CA’s Multi Media Services Department as the Assistant Director in charge of Content Regulation and Innovation. Mr. Wambua has spent most of his working life at CA, having joined the organisation in 2000 as an Assistant PR Manager.
Before joining CA, he worked at the Tea Board of Kenya and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology as a Public Relations Officer.
Mr. Wambua holds a Master’s degree in International Studies and a post-graduate diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi. He holds another post-graduate diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and a first degree in Education from Kenyatta University.
Mr. Wambua has over the years taken many short courses, including the University of Oxford’s Executive Leadership Programme.
