Board Conducts Public Sensitization for Students with Hearing Impairment

Board Conducts Public Sensitization for Students with Hearing Impairment

Kenya Film Classification Board officers in collaboration with Think Tank Sign Language Interpreters sensitized students with a hearing impairment from the Isinya School for the Deaf, at a sensitization forum in the school on responsible consumption of film and broadcast content on 14th October 2023.

The sensitization focused on age ratings that are assigned to film and broadcast content, the effects of bad content on children and the role of parents and caregivers in protecting children from exposure to inappropriate content.

The team also encouraged the students to pursue their dreams and passions as well as their talents, noting that there are equal opportunities for them in the job market.

The public sensitization was in line with the Board's consumer awareness function and the Access to Information Act which recommends for inclusion of persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in service delivery and access to information processes.

The activity also aligns with the Board's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aimed at giving back to the community and support towards vulnerable groups. The team donated dry food, sanitary and other non-food items to the school.
