Board Graces’ the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication’s Career Open Day

The Kenya Film Classification Board participated at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication's (KIMC), Career Open Day, for the 3rd Year Public Relations and Creative Advertising Class of 2024, held on 8th March 2024.

Themed: Strategic Impact of Artful Public Relations in Enhancing Corporate Events and Sponsorships, the event was graced by experts in the PR, Advertising, Events Management, and Communications fields from the Government and public sector, and was part of the student's examination evaluation process, as well as a mentorship forum.

While speaking at the event, KFCB's Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Bernard Ramoka, sensitized the students and other participants about the Board’s regulatory mandate, programs, and campaigns in line with the Board’s consumer advisory role. He encouraged the students to familiarize themselves with the laws governing the Film, Public Relations, and Communications industries. He also shared tips on the existing opportunities in the above sectors.

Learning institutions are among the Board's key stakeholders, especially in the campaign on responsible creation and consumption of audio-visual content, under the Board's Media Literacy and Public Sensitization program dubbed: #YouAreWhatYouConsume.

KFCB, a State Corporation in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, is mandated by the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222, of the Laws of Kenya to regulate the creation, broadcasting, possession, distribution, and exhibition of film and broadcast content to ensure that content meant for public exhibition conforms to Kenya's culture, moral values and National aspirations. Regulation is also for ensuring that children are protected from exposure to harmful content.
