Board Urges University Students to Champion Clean Content

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) was among partners in the just-concluded 4th Kenya Universities Performing Arts and Film Association (KUPAA) Festival held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, Bondo.

Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts, Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Ababu Namwamba, EGH, presided over the closing ceremony.

The Board’s Nyanza Regional Manager, Mr. Edward Koech, represented KFCB at the closing ceremony and affirmed KFCB’s commitment towards creating a facilitative regulatory environment for the creative industry to thrive.

Mr. Koech leveraged on the platform and sensitized university students and other participants on the Board’s regulatory mandate, programs and campaigns in line with our consumer advisory function.

While urging young artists to develop content that promotes Kenya’s cultural diversity, Mr Koech said that the Board will continue to create a conducive environment for aspiring artists to nurture their talents in Film and Arts.

“We thank KUPAA for creating a forum for university students to showcase their talents,” he said.
 
KFCB remains committed to working with and supporting within the law, like-minded public and private sector agencies on initiatives aimed at promoting Kenya's Creative Economy and also empowering the youths for job opportunities and wealth creation.
