Creatives Urged to Produce More Local Content

CEO Wambua

The Kenya Film Classification Board's Ag. CEO, Mr. Christopher has urged local TV stations to take advantage of the expanded airwaves to produce more local content.
Wambua was speaking during the screening of a local drama series dubbed: KIU.
Mr. Wambua said the KFCB is undertaking various initiatives meant to make the local film industry thrive. Such initiatives include developing a self-classification framework and transitioning to a self-regulation regime.

“As the State Agency mandated to regulate the creation, distribution, possession, broadcasting and exhibition of audio-visual content, we applaud Star Times for complying with the provisions of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya by submitting all content aired on its platform for rating,” said Wambua.

KIU is an intricate tale of love, lust and vengeance. The story follows Alisha (Celestine Gachuhi) a perfect wife to Alex (Blessing Lung’aho) whose world comes crashing down after she discovers her husband’s affair with her best friend, Diana (Anita Wawuda). She embarks on a revenge mission on people she once cherished and trusted after their betrayal.

The drama series will air on the Star Time's local content channel - Rembo TV, available across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, thereby presenting a platform to market Kenyan productions across the three countries, something that Mr. Wambua lauded.
