The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) today hosted students from the De-capture Media Institute (DCMI).

The students paid the Board an academic visit with the aim of understanding KFCB's regulatory mandate, programs and clean content campaigns.

The students were taken through the Board's regulatory mandate (Film Registration, Film Licensing, Examination and Classification, Compliance and Monitoring) as well as the provisions of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap222 that establishes the Board.

The Board’s Ag. CEO, Mr. Christopher Wambua, applauded De-capture Media Institute for its continued excellence in training students in film and their desire to learn about the role of KFCB.

He said that the film industry offers enormous career opportunities and encouraged the students to take them up.

The Ag. CEO also urged the students to leverage on technology in pursuit of their careers, noting that technology is the future of work. He also advised them to use the internet responsibly.

Mr. Wambua reaffirmed KFCB's commitment to supporting the growth of Kenya's film sector and urged the youths to leverage on the opportunities that the Government is putting in place for socio-economic empowerment.
