KFCB Rolls-Out Phase II of #FormNiSafi PSV Clean Content Awards

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has lauded Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators exhibiting clean content and who are supporting the Board’s campaign on protecting children from exposure to harmful/adult content.
Speaking on behalf of the Board during the awarding of the second PSV crew in the KFCB #FormNiSafi campaign at TRM along Thika Road, Ms. Nelly Muluka Oluoch, the Corporate Communications Manager, said the Board is keen on working with PSV operators through their Saccos and other Government agencies in ensuring that children who use PSVs are not exposed to harmful content.
“We are happy to award the second winner of the #FormNiSafi campaign. Congratulations to the crew (Antony Manyana and Sarah Wangui) of My Game - KDJ 594X- Super-Metro Sacco for bagging Ksh10,000 from KFCB, among other goodies from various Saccos and for exhibiting clean content in their vehicle,” Ms. Muluka said.
In collaboration with agencies such as the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), PSV Saccos and operators, among others, Ms. Muluka stated that the Board will endeavor to ensure that content exhibited in PSVs is safe for children.
Mr. Lawrence Maina from NTSA’s Road Safety Department lauded the #FormNiSafi campaign and urged PSV operators to observe road safety regulations, especially during the approaching December festive season.
The #FormNiSafi campaign seeks to enhance compliance within the Matatu industry, especially PSVs exhibiting/playing audio-visual content.
It is also meant to appreciate Saccos, drivers and conductors who play clean content and are compliant with KFCB’s content exhibition requirements as provided for in the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.
The law (Cap 222) mandates KFCB to regulate film and broadcast content to ensure that content conforms to Kenya’s culture and moral values as well as to protect children from exposure to inappropriate content.
The campaign, which is running for eight consecutive weeks through the KFCB social media platforms, entail the public voting for their outstanding PSV drivers and conductors exhibiting clean content in their vehicles.
The wining PSV crew in the competition are being awarded a token of Ksh10,000 and other goodies from different PSV Saccos. Additionally, commuters on specific routes stand a chance to enjoy free rides provided by different Saccos.
The campaign has so far, covered Langata and Thika road. Other routes in the weekly campaign are Jogoo Road, Mombasa Road, Waiyaki Way, Juja Road, Outering Road, Ngong Road, and Kiambu Road respectively.
