KFCB Ag. CEO Champions Youth Engagement in the Creative Sector Towards Advancing SDGs
The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Nelly Muluka, joined Mr. Charles Mwaniki, Deputy Director, Youth Department at the State Department for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy, during the 2025 Annual National Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Multi-Stakeholders Conference held in Mombasa on Wednesday, 26th November 2025.
Representing the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy, Mr. Fikirini Jacobs, at the event, Mr. Mwaniki highlighted key interventions by the State Department aimed at integrating youth in SDG decision-making, policy formulation, and implementation.

He also outlined the Department's strategic priorities to empower young people as active co-implementers of the SDGs.
At the same panel discussion, the Ag. CEO emphasised the immense potential of the Creative Sector in accelerating SDG progress.
She highlighted policies already in place to support this transformation and explained how KFCB is forging partnerships with young creatives to advance SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals—the engine that powers all other SDGs.

The Ag. CEO further highlighted initiatives being undertaken by the KFCB to make compliance and licensing processes simpler and more youth-friendly for emerging filmmakers and digital content creators. Key among them is the use of the Technical Management System (TMS) for all the Board's filming and classification licences and activities.
A decade into global SDG implementation, only 35% of targets are currently on track. The 2025 Annual Multi-Stakeholders Conference provided an opportunity for stakeholders to galvanise action as Kenya moves through the critical final five years towards Vision 2030.
