KFCB Applauds Law Enforcement Agencies for Enforcing Cap 222

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has recognized the critical role played by law enforcement agencies in enforcing the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222, the primary legislation that establishes the Board.
While speaking during the Lang'ata Sub-County Police and Staff New Year Party, the KFCB's Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Mr Paskal M. Opiyo, said that the Board has maintained a cordial working relationship with law enforcers.
In the spirit of the Whole-of Government-Approach, the KFCB continues to work with the National Police Service (NPS) in ensuring compliance to Cap 222," Mr. Opiyo said, at the event that was held at the Carnivore on Saturday 8th January 2025.
The Ag. CEO also revisited the just-concluded Phase III of the Creatives in Arts and Film Literacy (CAFiL) Programme, noting that the initiative saw the sensitization of law enforcement officers on the mandate of the KFCB and other regulatory agencies whose mandates impact the film industry.
During the event, which was also attended by representatives from Public Service Vehicles (PSVs), Mr. Opiyo, urged players in the PSV sector to ensure that their vehicles exhibit content that has been examined and rated by KFCB as General Exhibition (GE) or Parental Guidance (PG), considering that school-going children use PSVs as their means of transport to and from school.
The KFCB remains committed to working with stakeholders to ensure a facilitative regulatory environment to spur the growth of the film sector for job opportunities and wealth creation.
