KFCB Equips Caregivers At SOS Children’s Villages with Digital Parenting Skills to Promote Child Online Safety
The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), in collaboration with Tunga Media Afrika and Cape Media, sensitised caregivers at SOS Children’s Villages in Buruburu, Nairobi, on digital parenting and child online safety. Conducted in line with the Board’s Consumer Advisory function under the Parental Digital Literacy (PaDiL) Programme, the session provided caregivers with practical skills to enforce parental controls, manage screen time, and apply safeguards to protect children from exposure to harmful audiovisual content and other media-related risks.
At the forum held on Friday, 2nd October 2026, the KFCB team emphasised the collective responsibility of protecting children from age-inappropriate content and promoting online safety. Caregivers were encouraged to monitor and guide children’s content consumption across mainstream media and digital platforms.

The team also held an interactive session with the children on safe media viewing and responsible use of digital platforms, complemented by fun activities. Further, KFCB donated essential supplies and personal care items to SOS Children’s Villages as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

KFCB, a Government agency mandated to regulate the audiovisual sector, implements the PaDiL Programme in collaboration with other Government agencies and partners to equip parents, guardians, and caregivers with the skills and tools needed to help children navigate the digital landscape safely and responsibly.
