KFCB Meets Safaricom Officials Over Self-Regulatory

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) management today, 14th March 2024, held a fruitful consultative meeting with representatives from Safaricom PLC to deliberate about compliance, especially onboarding of Safaricom Baze on the Self-classification System.
In consultation with stakeholders, the KFCB developed Self-Classification Regulations that will see broadcasters, Video-On-Demand (VOD) and Over-the-top (OTT) service providers involved in the classification of their audio-visual content.
KFCB is the State regulatory agency under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, mandated by the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya to regulate film and broadcast content with the aim of protecting children from exposure to inappropriate content, as well as to ensure that all content exhibited to the public in Kenya conforms to Kenya's culture, moral values and national aspirations
