Multi-Choice Talent Factory Courtesy Call on the Board

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), today 24th August, 2022, hosted students from the Multi-Choice Talent Factory (MTF), East Africa (EA) Academy.
Led by MTF Academy Director, Ms. Victoria Nzale Goro, the students paid the Board an academic visit with the aim of understanding KFCB's regulatory mandate, especially Film Examination and Classification.
The Board’s Ag. CEO, Mr. Christopher Wambua, applauded Multi-Choice for training new generation of content creators as well as creating a platform for creatives to thrive. 
Mr. Wambua advised creatives to tell authentic African stories using the advancing digital platforms. “Film is a powerful tool that we can use to tell positive stories as well as promote our values as Africans," he added.

The Board’s Ag CEO also urged creatives to adhere to regulations governing content creation, exhibition, distribution, possession and broadcasting, noting that content regulation is not meant to stifle creativity.
Mr. Wambua said that the Board will continue to partner with Multi-Choice to sensitize creatives on regulation as well as ethical content creation. “As a regulatory Board, we are committed to working with other Government and private sector agencies on programs aimed at creating a conducive environment for local creatives to thrive.
To create a facilitative regulatory environment for the continued growth of the local film industry, Mr. Wambua said that the Board is spearheading key institutional frameworks among them the proposal on Redefining the Role of Film Agents and Co-Regulation Framework for broadcast and online video streaming services.

Ms. Goro applauded KFCB for providing a facilitative regulatory environment for local content creators, noting that Multi-Choice will continue to partner with the Board in executing its core regulatory mandate. “We are grateful for the support the KFCB has continued to give to Multi-Choice Talent Factory since 2018 when we launched the program,” She added.
MTF is a regional initiative that aims at equipping young emerging filmmakers with the requisite skills to contribute to the technical and professional value chain in the film and TV industries in East Africa.

Throughout the one-year experiential learning program, MTF partners with various partners, institutions and organizations to add value to the curriculum by offering expertise in different aspects of film and TV production.
