Pomp and Color as De-Capture Media Institute holds 4th Graduation Ceremony

The Kenya Film Classification Board Corporate Communications Manager, Ms. Nelly Muluka, presided over the 4th De-Capture Media Institute Graduation Ceremony at the Nairobi Film Centre (formerly known as Nairobi Cinema) on behalf of the Board's Ag. CEO Mr. Christopher Wambua.
55 students graduated with certificates in Cinema/TV/Film Production, Photography and Digital Media during the colorful ceremony held on Friday 3rd December, 2021.
In her remarks as the Chief Guest, Ms. Muluka, said KFCB is proud to be associated with the De-capture Media Institute and lauded the institution for its continued efforts to identify and nurture young talents for wealth and job opportunities creation through training and other exposure programs.
She urged the graduands to creative and innovative in order to make a difference in the crowded white-collar job market.
Ms. Muluka advised the graduands to leverage on the rise of Digital Media to earn livelihoods, noting that the internet provides a lot of opportunities for content creators.
“If well and responsibly utilized, social media platforms will enable you to earn an income while pursuing your passions as well as becoming employers thus, contributing positively to the GDP,” she said.
The Corporate Communications Manager said that the power of the creative industry as an important vehicle for social, cultural and economic development cannot be ignored anymore as it has become a critical part of our day-to-day life and socialization.
In a bid to support content creators, she indicated that KFCB has developed an E-Services System, and moved to a central online platform where creatives get any of the Board’s services with utmost ease.
“I reiterate our Board’s commitment to effective service delivery to the Creatives and assure you of our unwavering support in your pursuits to prosperity within the law. I call upon all to join our clean content campaigns aimed at protecting children from exposure to inappropriate content,” she said.
De-Capture Media Institute is a private institution recognized by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and offers courses in Cinema/TV/Film Production, Photography and Digital Media among others.
Institutions of learning from ECD to University levels are among the Board's key stakeholders in the campaign for creation and consumption of clean content under our Media Literacy Program dubbed: #YouAreWhatYouConsume.
