Sensitization Forum for Meru County Creatives

The Kenya Film Classification Board conducted a sensitization forum for the Meru County Creatives who included: film producers, musicians, comedians, photographers, bloggers and online content creators on 25th November, 2021 at the Meru Slopes Hotel.
The creatives were sensitized on filming and content classification requirements, standards of broadcast content and basic digital skills.
The workshop also sought to empower the creatives with knowledge and basic skills to enable them not only reap from their talents and works but also create job opportunities.
KFCB's Head of Compliance Department, Ms. Emmah Irungu, made a presentation on the Board’s regulatory mandate as stipulated in the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya, noting that creatives by the nature of their content have become great influencers and agenda setters, hence a major cog in the airwaves cleaning process.
She affirmed the Board's commitment to working with local content creators/creatives in a bid to promote the creative industry and enhance compliance to the provisions of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.
