2017 Kalasha International Film & TV Awards at the Crowne Plaza, Nairobi

It was a night of fun, celebration and pride at the Crowne Plaza, Nairobi during the 2017 Kalasha International Film & TV Awards last night. KFCB continues to support efforts geared towards spurring the growth of the film industry in Kenya and will work closely with the Kenya Film Commission going forward to make Kenya a competitive filming destination. We are blessed to have the best filming locations in the world with phenomenal flora and fauna, beautiful coastal beaches, the Great Rift Valley, the Maasai Mara with spectacular annual Wildebeest migration billed as the 8th Wonder of the World and the most warm, hospital and optimistic people.

The creativity of our youth is unparalleled and with the technological advancements that have put Kenya on top in Africa in high speed internet, being the only African country that has fully and successfully migrated from Analogue to Digital, Kenya can tap into it’s comparative advantage to become the leader in film industry in Africa and compete with Nollywood, Bollywood and even the American Hollywood. The great interest shown by the industry this year by registering the highest number of entries in the Kalashas since inception 7 years ago is proof of the renaissance of the film industry in Kenya. We will do all it takes to improve on policy to create a facilitate and conducive environment for the industry growth. Congratulations to all the winners of the 2017 Kalasha Awards.
