Meeting with MSK

The Kenya Film Classification Board, hosted officials from the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK), led by their CEO, Mr. Edward Oswe, on 20 th July 2023.

The MSK officials were taken through the Board's regulatory mandate, programs, and campaigns.

MSK is a crucial stakeholder in the implementation of KFCB’s mandate as it is the national umbrella body for all marketers in Kenya whose mandate revolves around empowering and regulating the marketing industry in Kenya.

Meeting with MSK

The possible collaboration between KFCB and MSK will see marketers sensitized on the need to create content that conforms to the provisions of the Film and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222, of the Laws of Kenya.

This will ensure that film and broadcast content conform to Kenya’s culture, moral values, and national aspirations as well as to protect children from exposure to inappropriate content.

The Board's Ag. CEO, Mr. Joel Wamalwa, affirmed the Board's commitment to collaborate with stakeholders such as the MSK in creating a facilitative regulatory environment for the creative economy to thrive.

Mr. Oswe noted the need for rigorous sensitization about KFCB’s mandate to MSK members to enhance compliance.
