KENYA READY TO HOST THE 2017 INTERNATIONAL FILM CONVENTION -KENYA(IFC-K)

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) in conjuction with the French Embassy in Kenya, the European Union and UNESCO are organizing the 2017 edition of the International Film Convention-Kenya (IFC-K).

The forum, which will be held annually, is scheduled to happen in Nairobi from 15th to 17th November, 2017. It will attract participants from various countries, including United States, France, India, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, among others.

Themed “Taking the Audiovisual and Film Industry in Africa to the next Level “, the conference will include plenary sessions that will feature discussions on ways of facilitating growth in the creative industry in Kenya as well as the Eastern Africa region.

Its objectives include creating exchange programs between Kenyan filmmakers and established filmmakers from Hollywood, Nollywood ,Bollywood, among other established industries.It will also provide a platform for sharing new ideas in film production and content distrubution in light of new technologies. Consultations between KFCB and other regulators on the best global film content regulatory models will also be on top of the meeting’s agenda.

The conference will draw participants from various film related institutions including film producers, broadcasters, distributors, actors, Government officials, diplomats, media owners, regulatory institutions in Kenya and the region, the academia, musicians, comedians, among others.

The meeting underscores KFCB’s commitment to work with the industry to promote Kenya as a preferred filming destination with a robust film industry that will promote our culture and morality while creating employment opportunities for our people.
