KFCB Meets Netflix Officials Over Content Classification Framework

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Management, led by the Ag. Chief Manager, Corporate Services & Administration, Ms. Nelly Muluka, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, held a consultative meeting with Netflix officials, led by Ms. Shola Sanni, Director of Global Affairs.
The two entities discussed areas of collaboration, especially the Self -Classification Framework which the Board has been rolling out with Netflix in a pilot phase for the last two years.
Ms. Muluka applauded the Netflix team for their continued collaboration, which has contributed to the success of the framework’s implementation.
She noted that the Self- Classification Framework is designed to create a more facilitative regulatory environment for the local creative industry by involving industry players in the content classification process.
On her part, Ms. Shola lauded the KFCB for its efforts towards actualizing the Framework, affirming Netflix’s support and continued collaboration to ensure that content uploaded on its platforms endeavors to adhere to the KFCB's Film Classification Guidelines.
KFCB is committed to working with Netflix and other Online Video Streaming platforms to ensure that content exhibited or distributed on their channels conforms to Kenya's culture and national values in order to protect children and vulnerable groups from exposure to inappropriate content.
